Just incase the State of Maine didn't realize what a great library the town of  Freeport has, Library Director Beth Edmonds made it known to everyone in her speech at the Capitol after being sworn in as President of the Maine Senate today.  We are proud to know that legislators in Augusta have figured out what we have known for a long time:  that Beth offers her caring and her determination to help people make their lives better to anyone who needs a hand.  Congratulations, Madame President!

December is Food for Fines Month.  We will be accepting donations of food goods in lieu of cash for book fines between now and the end of the year.  Collected goods will be sent on to the Food Pantry at Freeport Community Services.  Please note that large fines, movie fines and replacement fees must still be paid for with cash

Library patron Will Bristol will be performing at the Franco-American Heritage Center on Cedar Street in Lewiston Saturday evening, December 9th at 7:30 pm.  Will is a 14-year old pianist from Freeport and a long-time friend of the library.  He will be performing works by Haydn, Chopin and Liszt as part of a young performers series.  For ticket information, check out the poster in our front entry or phone 689-2000.

Don't hesitate to call and set up an appointment with Dick Hilton if you have questions about Medicare D.  Dick is a hidden treasure who has helped many folks wade through the Medicare D paperwork.   Please call 1-877-353-3771 to make an appointment and be sure to tell the receptionist you would like your appointment to be at the Freeport Library site. Couples are requested to each have their own appointment.

Our computer angel, Nadine Martin, will not be available for computer help during November and December.  She hopes to back with us Thursday mornings after the first of the year.

Do you know someone who can't get to the library but could really use our services?  Give us a call and we'll introduce you to the CONNECTIONS program.  This free service gives folks who are home-bound access to library materials via volunteers who pick up and deliver books right to your door.  Don't be shy...give us a ring!  You can visit the CONNECTIONS page from a link on our home page.

Holiday gift giving is just around the corner.  Consider shopping at your local library.  We have beautiful tote bags and note cards for sale.  You can give a library membership to someone who lives out of town or perhaps help purchase a book in someone's name.  Come have a chat with a librarian and we'll have your shopping done in no time!
