Freeport Community Library - Books For Freeport's Readers                                           Adult Services

We truly have something for everyone. If you need help finding your way about, just ask at the main desk.

EBSCO Electronic Databases on MARVEL

We are pleased to announce a new on-line  search product available through the Maine State Library. You may access this program on any of the Internet computers or at home.  EBSCO gives up-to-date access to hundreds of newspapers, magazines and journals.  Many of the articles are full text.  You can print out the information or export it into a word- processing document. We are hopeful that this will provide much needed access to research materials for students and interested patrons.

Simply click on the word MARVEL on our homepage to try this for yourself.

Adult Collection

Our adult collection serves a wide range of patrons. Located in the main reading area, you will first find shelves of new fiction and nonfiction. We have the latest best sellers along with current new releases in many subject areas. The fiction collection is extensive.  The nonfiction collection is also broad with biographies and books on everything from creating your own web page to tribal ceremonies in New Guinea.

Large Type Collection

Our collection of large print books continues to grow, often including current bestsellers. Look for recent acquisitions at the end of the New Fiction shelves and the rest of the collection at the far end of the Main Reading Room.

Print Magazine & Newspaper Collection

Also in the main reading area is our magazine collection with over 100 subscriptions of weekly, monthly and quarterly titles, all of which can be checked out.  We also subscribe to two local newspapers.

Reference Collection

In conjunction with the nonfiction collection our reference section includes may specialized encyclopedias, general encyclopedias including World Book, regional, world and historical atlases and phone books for the state of Maine.

Audiobooks on CD and Cassette

Our audiobook collection is a great resource for people who spend a lot of time in their cars or have their ears available for listening while doing other tasks.  From thrillers and mysteries to classics and non-fiction, there are titles available for every listener in the house.  We also have a collection of children's titles available for those long car trips.  Nothing stops "Are we there yet?" like a good book on tape.

Audiovisual Collection

The video/DVD collection is located in two parts of the adult section. General entertainment and new videos are found just before the main reading area and instructional, documentary and special interest videos are found in the nonfiction area.  New DVDs are found in the Main Lobby.  Music CDs are also located in the Main Lobby.
